The Compassion Coalition

is a group of organizations and individuals whose core work entails compassion. We define compassion as:

“the awareness of suffering and the will to act to relieve that suffering”

Serving the Southern Arizona region, our purpose is to support regional compassion programming by collaborating in the creation and marketing of various initiatives sponsored by our respective organizations.

The first community action of The Compassion Coalition was to draft and submit a resolution of compassion to the Tucson City Council, which was unanimously passed on April 7, 2015. By passing this resolution, Tucson joins 260 other cities around the globe in the Compassionate Cities Initiative of the Charter for Compassion, which works “to establish and sustain cultures of compassion locally and globally through diverse initiatives – education, cities, business, religious and spiritual communities, and the arts.” More than a simple moniker for the city of Tucson, the forthcoming initiatives generated by this resolution will function to expand collaboration in our city and restore compassion as a central ethic in all spheres of community life.

Please accept our open invitation to join this work and check this site often for updates on events and programs of The Compassion Coalition or its members.
